Our primary activity will be to raise a minimum of £7000 per annum (at 2009 value) to support the continued funding of the 2 breakfast centres (Breakfast Centres D at Bulindo & E at Kiwologoma) run by NFSC in Uganda.
Funding will be raised through a number of sources:
- individual donations (regular and one-off donations)
- annual fundraising dinner
- group collections
- twinning initiatives between schools and youth organisations in Scotland and NFSC
- grant-making trusts
We will receive quarterly project monitoring updates from NFSC and inspect their annual audited accounts to ensure that the funds have been correctly applied. Read recent reports here.
Our Annual Report for financial year 2009-10 is available.
Should the funds raised exceed the minimum requirement needed to support the 2 breakfast centres, the trustees will decide on an annual basis how the additional funds will be allocated. In the first instance, this is likely to be other NFSC initiatives, such as the after school clubs, but will not be limited to this. Other initiatives chosen by the trustees working with the target group on our charitable objectives will be eligible for support using any surplus income. However, we will not be operating as an open grant making trust.
We will also promote volunteering opportunities within NFSC and act in a brokerage capacity by making connections between communities in Scotland and Uganda and linking people together. We will not be involved in organising or managing the volunteer opportunities. Read more about the links that have developed between Muirhouse in Edinburgh and Namugongo here.
